What happens when a community starts paying attention to the food being offered to their children at school? A timely issue, as the much-anticipated Child Nutrition Act of 2010 pass Congres last month to help improve the nutritional quality of school lunches nationwide.

Lunch Love Community (www.lunchlovecommunity.org) a new Documentary Project by filmmakers Helen De Michiel and Sophie Constantinou looks into these issues through a mosaic of "webisodes" made specifically to be watched, shared and spread around the online social media space.

Through a prisim of passionate community voices and visions, the filmmakers explore the different facets that have made up the groundbreaking Berkeley School Lunch Initiative.  These short films offer glimpses into how one community can lead the way towards larger systemic change in the way our children eat, how they think, and how they learn at school.  Lunch Love Community reveals what it takes to change a school's district's relationship to food.

Helen De Michiel will show a 60-minutes presentation about Lunch Love Community as a case study in "evolving expanded documentary and social practice."  The aim is how to use participatory storytelling and social media to create on-line and face-to-face dialogues for food systems change.  Discussion & Q&A will follow.
