H.P. Mendoza is a Filipino American writer-director and singer-songwriter based in San Francisco. He is best known as the screenwriter, composer, and star of the film Colma: The Musical (2006). Fruit Fly (2009) is his directorial debut. It tells the story of Bethesda, a Filipina performance artist who moves to San Francisco to workshop her latest piece, which deals with the search for her biological mother. Upon moving, Bethesda discovers clues about her mother’s whereabouts, a new family, and the realization that she just might be a fag hag. For more on the film, visit www.hpmendoza.com
