New Media Theory Seminar: Software and Difference

Course Description: 

In this course, we will explore how difference exists in software using the lenses from the fields of software studies, art, film and computer science. We start with thinking through software and difference separately, establishing how these concepts will be used throughout the course and providing theoretical language and artists’ various methodologies. We will then move to looking at written work, art work and art practices to see how difference is treated in each of searching, seeing and listening, understanding, executing, reading,  doing, and translating.
