Biography:
Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Lucas Bonetti moved to the U.S. at the age of six. He was given his first camera as a teenager and took photographs mostly when he traveled. In 2008, he returned to Brazil and interned for the federal government responsible for the development of sustainable local farming, giving the poor in Brazil access and ownership to farm land therefore getting them out of the cycle of poverty. Being asked to travel around the state of Minas Gerais to help these small farmers secure their official and legal status, he was able to put his passion to work and started taking a lot of photos not only for official use, but also and mostly as artistic expression. Back in the U.S., Lucas got his Bachelor's degree in digital photography at The Art Institute of California in 2014. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in social documentation at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
