Maya has eight years of experience working as executive producer and development executive with Pimienta Films (Mexico) and The Match Factory (Germany). She has worked with acclaimed directors Tatiana Huezo, Alfonso Cuarón, Amat Escalante, Lila Avilés, among others, and participated in markets and pitches such as IDFA Forum, Torino FilmLab, and Cinemart - International Film Festival Rotterdam. Her experience in the industry has led her to shift towards filmmaking models that sit beyond the logic of the market and commit to a framework of accountability. Maya also has research experience collaborating on large scale scholarly initiatives that lie at the intersection of art and anthropology. She holds an M.A. in Visual Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London and a B.A. in Spanish Literature from Reed College.
