Hannah Jayanti (she/her) is a documentary filmmaker, organizer, and educator. Her work centers process-driven and formally expansive nonfiction as ethical and political practices. Through this lens, she circles around questions of landscape, listening, memory, and time. Her work has been supported by Sundance Institute, Sandbox Films, Sundance Edit & Story Lab, Tribeca Film Institute, Catapult, Points North Institute, New York Council on the Arts, New York Foundation for the Arts, Jerome Foundation, among others. Her work has been exhibited at International Film Festival Rotterdam, Sheffield DocFest, Dok Leipzig, Tribeca Storyscapes, Transmediale, MUBI, the Smithsonian, the Museum of the Moving Image, The New Yorker Festival, among many others. As an educator, she focuses on mentorship and media training through art spaces and community centers. Her organizing work includes co-creating spaces that model mutual-aid practices while creating surprising futures. She is currently pursuing a practice-led Ph.D. in Film & Digital Media at U.C. Santa Cruz.
