B. Ruby Rich is the author of New Queer Cinema.  Her new research explores notions of the public as constituted by theatrical exhibition from the postwar era to century's end.  As editor of Film Quarterly, she is currently preparing dossiers on the films of Eduardo Coutinho and Chantal Akerman.
