Title: Let Me Feel Your Finger First

Animator and Filmmaker Richard Squires's research outputs take various forms, from short films and animations to essays, comics, interactive installations and live art performances. This presentation will discuss ongoing research concerns in his practice such as creative approaches to the construction of narrative, representation and stereotyping in comics and animation and shifting dynamics in the relationship between the artwork and the audience.

Richard Squires is a Senior Lecturer in Filmmaking at Kingston University (MFA Slade, BA Middlesex University) with an active professional practice that comprises work in video, film, installation, animation and interactive media. He is a founder member of London-based comic art project, Let Me Feel Your Finger First (LMFYFF), which disseminates comics, animated films, drawing and web-based work. He shows in galleries and online; his films have been broadcast on UK television and screened at festivals internationally. His projects have received funding from Arts Council England, Channel 4, Animate Projects, Film London and Radiator 002 Festival of New Technology Art.
