The minor in Film and Digital Media offers a foundation in
visual culture and contributes important scholarly techniques
of value to other disciplines. To declare the F&DM minor,
students must complete Film 20A and one other F&DM lower-division
course. Students earn a minor in Film and Digital Media by
completing eight courses: two lower-division courses, and
six upper-division courses including four from the core curriculum
of the general major and two electives. There is no production
component in the minor nor is there a comprehensive requirement.
Declared F&DM minors are able to enroll in the core curriculum
courses (Film 120 and all of the courses in the 130s). All
other upper-division courses in critical studies are restricted
to F&DM majors. Minors who have satisfied the course prerequisites
must attend the first class meeting and be given permission
by the instructor to be admitted to upper-division courses
outside the core curriculum.
