Research Interests: feminist filmmaking and art; cine comunitario (community-based cinema); critical race and ethnic studies; visual anthropology; urban studies; Afro-Latino studies; Jewish political identity
Jeanne's work as a researcher, educator and documentarian focuses on the role of art in social movements across the Americas. Her recent projects include researching and writing about artist-activist collaborations on Chicago's South Side in the 1970s and '80s, curating a community photography project in Chicago's Washington Park neighborhood, and producing a community-based film project in Southwestern Colombia documenting the history of land rights struggles in the Afro-Colombian territory of Alsacia.
