Conversation about collective memory, the archive, and forgotten, obscured or intentionally repressed histories, and referencing the notion of “edutainment”
Education and Training:
M.A., Film Studies, MFA, Studio Arts (Film), Concordia University
B.A., Film & Video Studies, University of Regina
Research Interests:

Brett uses sports as a tool for engaging audiences in a conversation about collective memory, the archive, and forgotten, obscured or intentionally repressed histories, and referencing the notion of “edutainment”. His goals are to reframe existing narratives about sports, in order to illuminate new perspectives, and to provoke viewing experiences that are both instructive and pleasurable. Combining traditional research methods with collage aesthetics, reenactment, original documentary footage, personal commentary, and expanded forms, his hybrid projects explore the intersection of history, counter-memory, and popular culture.
